Three MPs from Kisii County allied to Ford People party have been warned against decamping to Jubilee Party ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to the region this week.

Richard Tong’i (Nyaribari Chache), Zebedayo Opore (Bonchari) and Stephen Manoti (Bobasi) are 'scheduled' to officially decamp to Jubilee in a ceremony to be presided by President Kenyatta during the official opening of Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit.

However, Ford People interim Chairman Mwancha Okioma has slammed the move and challenged the trio to officially resign from the party according to the Political Parties Act and the constitution.

“It’s laughable that people can decamp from a political party without writing to the officials. They should do it in writing unless they don’t understand the Political Parties Act and the constitution. As chairman of Ford People, I dare them to go ahead with their unscrupulous plans of decamping,” Mr Okioma said on Monday on phone.

He ordered the three to report to the party’s disciplinary committee on Wednesday, failure to which the party will kick them out using the provisions in the political parties act and article 103 of the constitution.

“We have already summoned them to appear before the disciplinary committee on Wednesday and failure to which we will invoke the Political Parties Act and Article 103 of the constitution. They have to be expelled from the party and their seats declared vacant,” said the former Kitutu Masaba MP.

He also threatened to sue JAP leadership for allegedly defaming the party by announcing that Ford People was due to merge with them.

“I have heard them (JAP) saying they are merging with us. This is incorrect and amounts to defamation. Let them talk of individuals decamping and not parties merging or else we face in court,” he said.
