Busia county deputy governor Kizito Wangalwa yesterday congratulated Busia County Students Association (BUCSA).

The association students from Kisii University, who paid a visit to Busia county on a three-day tour to market the university in the county and also mentor high school students.

"I am so happy and congratulate your visit," said Wangalwa.

He further said that university students should have an impact on their village instead of alienating themselves from their own people.

On the issue of county HELB loan, he dismissed claims by students that the scheme should be scrapped on the basis that it will be a double debt that students will be owing the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

He said that the sole purpose of initiating the scheme was to help those students who never qualified for direct entry from a mean grade of C+ (plus) to B-(minus) and also support those on direct entry.

"We will be doing a disservice to those students who never attained direct entry and who are unable to raise tuition fee," he said.

He further challenged students to form Sacco to start developing a saving culture on money that is not on expenditure.

On the issue of internships and attachment, he said that the county will restructure its policy on application procedures since students had decried of the process which was barring many.
