Kegoro noted that leaders and other top government officials were only found in Kisumu and Nairobi, unlike now where people reach the services of their leaders within their localities, citing governors and county commissioners.

According to the former legislator who was speaking in Nyamira, there is a lot of development that has been done and that up to now, the people have started seeing and reaping the fruits of devolution at the county level.

"In the past, we only had one constituency called North Mugirango but now you are lucky you have a county with a governor and a county commissioner and other leaders here in Nyamira with you. We have indeed come from far because we never knew that one day we would have this type of governance with leaders close to the people," he said.

Kegoro also said that he would not be happy to see the people divided in the county of Nyamira and that leaders should lead by example.
