Nakuru is known for many things which make it an outstanding county in Kenya but did you know that five constituencies in the county boast of having a lake?

Among the things that put Nakuru not only on the Kenyan but also world map are the numerous tourist attractions, with the major one being the lake Nakuru national park.

But one thing which many people may not know is that Nakuru is home to four lakes making it the county with the most water bodies in Kenya.

If you ask many people to name lakes found within Nakuru county, maybe they will just name lake Nakuru and lake Naivasha which are the common lakes in Nakuru.

For those who don't know, Nakuru has four lakes.

Lake Elementaita is found in Gilgil Constituency which is known for fluorspar mining.

This lake is believed to have formed as a result of mining activities in the area.

Lake Naivasha is the only freshwater lake in Nakuru. It is located in Naivasha Constituency and is known to be among the tourists attractions in Nakuru as well as fishing activities.

Lake Nakuru is at the centre of Nakuru County and stretches between Nakuru East and West constituencies.

The lake is home to numerous wild animals that form part of the tourists attractions in Nakuru.

The lake Nakuru is famously known for lack of an outlet.

Lake Solai is small and found at the border of Nakuru and Baringo counties in Rongai constituency.

It is mainly used for irrigation purposes by the many farmers around there.
