Kibera persons living with disabilities on Wednesday afternoon forwarded their petition to the constituency parliamentary liaison officer Vincent Ayako seeking an audience with MP Ken Okoth.

Speaking at the Constituency Development Fund centre, the Kibera Disabled Group led by their spokesperson Richard Ong’ong’o, proposed that a date be set for them to have a one-on-one meeting with the MP.

“We want him to forward our pleas to the national Parliament because he is our representative. We want the national government to increase the Uwezo Fund allocation being given to the disabled,” said Richard.

He added that meeting with the Member of Parliament will be a turning point for all disabled in the country.

“I am sure our fellow brothers and sisters will be happy when they hear what we want to say,” he added.

The group was later assured that their grievances will be addressed once the MP visits the office on Monday.

Ayako said the office of the Member of Parliament values all people and advised them to be patient.

“We value all people and we are working very hard to see that you all get Uwezo Fund money,’’ said Ayako.
