Nairobi-based businessman Thomas Nyambeche has challenged female students from the area to embrace science related courses and careers to increase their chances of competing favourably with their male counterparts in the fast changing job world.

Speaking in Boigesa on Wednesday evening during a funds drive in aid of Linet Onsare's college fees, Nyambeche warned parents against discouraging their daughters from taking science courses in the name that they are hard and meant for boys.

Referring to Linet who is pursuing a medical engineering course, Nyambeche encouraged other girls from the area to emulate her and pursue science courses to increase their chances of securing employment in the scientific field.

He warned parents from local communities against imposing careers on their children and instead advised them to give a free hand to identify their future careers based on their academic performance and talents.

"I am warning my fellow parents against imposing careers on their children. Instead, let the children identify their career choices independently and have them pursue what they have chosen without coercion or external influence," advised the businessman.
