Politicians in Nakuru County have been warned to watch their tongues especially during this time when the country is heading towards the 2017 electioneering period.
South Rift regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo said he will not allow politicians especially in Njoro, Molo and Kuresoi to use what he termed as ‘inciting’ language during their meetings.
Musiambo said areas along the Nakuru-Narok and the Nakuru-Kericho borders were volatile, and called on politicians from the said regions to exercise extreme caution during their meetings.
Speaking Wednesday in his office, Musiambo said politicians will be held accountable for their utterances during political meetings.
“The election is just around the corner and the temperatures have started rising and we have to put politicians on notice that we don’t want them to incite people on tribal or ethnic lines or political party affiliations,” he said.
“Politicians from Njoro, Molo and Kuresoi must be very keen on what the say especially at this time when we are heading to the 2017 because they can easily wreak havoc in those areas and we will be monitoring them in all their meetings to ensure that they don’t incite people or propagate hatred ,” he added.
