A middle-aged man has accused a Nakuru County askari of harassment.
Shadrack Osebe said he was assaulted on Wednesday when he went to the Nakuru County Assembly to do a job application.
“I just wanted to know if getting a clearance of HELB would hinder me from getting the job advertised,” he said.
Osebe claims the askari, who he claims was drunk, pushed him and started shouting at him, accusing him of “selling bhang” in the area.
“I am a Kenyan and I have a right to get into any of these offices. He did not have to intimidate me," he said.
James Wakibia, an activist who witnessed the askari shoving him, condemned the move.
“He should just have communicated in a polite manner. We are asking the assembly to take strict action against the man as there have been complaints indicating that he always comes to work drunk,” he said.
Nakuru County Speaker Susan Kihika promised to investigate the issue
"This is the first time I am hearing of such a complaint but I will ensure that I follow it up to the end," Kihika said on Wednesday.
