Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich has assured that the economy is on track and urged the opposition to stop misleading Kenyans that the country is bankrupt.

Speaking at the Eldoret Sports club on Saturday, Rotich admitted that there are challenges in his ministry but that does not mean the country is bankrupt that is, it cannot run its daily operations.

He assured Kenyans that the government is working to reduce the wage bill.

“As the Ministry of Finance, we are determined to ensure that Kenya’s economy grows annually but at the moment, it is experiencing high borrowing but we are working on it round the clock to ensure free cash flow," he said.

The National Treasury CS said they are targeting to achieve an economic growth of 5.5 percent at the end of the year.
