It took the intervention of the Molo sub-county Education office to restore operations at Nyakiambi Primary School after parents protested last week to express their displeasure on how the school was being run.
During a crisis meeting that brought together parents, teachers, local leaders and representatives from the Education office led by Clement Gisere at the school on Tuesday, it was agreed that no extra penny be charged to the students as per the ministry's directive.
"The Education ministry has laid down operational guidelines to all schools across the country and nobody has a right to operate contrary to the guidelines," he said.
The main issue was the decision by the school head to charge the students Sh200 exam fee and an extra Sh100 for remedial classes for all upper primary students.
Area MP Jacob Macharia had promised to liaise with the Education office to find a solution to the problem that had totally paralysed operations at the institution last Friday.
