Muchakai sub location youths have been encouraged to embrace passion fruits farming to avoid remaining idle all day but rather make a living out of it.

Muchakai youth group chairman Dennis Kimani noted that passion fruits farming was easy, required less capital to start, less farming land and its returns were huge as compared to other crops.

"Make it an option to eliminate idleness. I started passion fruits commercial farming just here and am now making Kshs. 52, 000 in a month," he told youths.

He advised youth in the area to stop complaining over joblessness to the government citing that jobs were all over and only a logical idea was needed.

"Until when shall we keep using the slogan of ‘serikali saidia’? If I’ve made it, you as well have a chance to make it. Just present your idea to the youth group you’ve joined so that htey can help you implement it," he said.

Kimani further urged youths to avoid the mentality that white collar jobs are the only jobs around. He disclosed that jua kali workers were making more money than those who spent most of their time in offices.

Kimani was speaking to youths during a meeting in Muchakai youth empowerment hall on Tuesday.
