A section of tea farmers from Gesima ward have appealed to Kitutu Masaba Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committee to donate some money to help them complete construction of a tea buying centre.
Speaking on Monday at Riaking’oina tea buying center during a meeting organised by farmers to set up strategies on how to a acquire funds to renovate the centre, the farmers said the easiest way they can complete the project is if they are boosted by CDF donations.
Led by their chairperson Jackson Atera, they appealed to the committee to include tea buying centers in their budget so that during distribution of funds they can be among the beneficiaries.
“We urge the management of CDF to help us with funds so that we can be able to have better place where we can sell our crop, because it is our main source of income,” said Atera.
He added that they have been applying for the funds but have been unsuccessful.
Atera urged tea farmers not to give up on the activity, saying it was their chief income generator.
