Farmers in Kabatini village, Bahati constituency have lamented over the poor state of the Maili Sita-Kabatini road saying it is costing them a fortune.

The farmers who mostly engage in dairy and horticulture farming said they cannot ferry their produce to the market owing to the sorry state of the road.

Led by Gilbert Ngesha, the farmers said the cost of transporting their products to the market has doubled.

"This road is very crucial to us and its state is worrying because we cannot move our milk and other products from the farms to the market,"said Ngesha.

He added; "the cost of transportation has doubled and this is causing us huge losses because our products are rotting in farms."

The farmers called on area MP Kimani Ngunjiri to set aside funds from the CDF kitty so as to re-carpet the road.

Chairman of Kabati Farmers Association Wilberforce Wanderi said the farmers will not vote for Ngunjiri in 2017 should he fail to re-carpet the road.

'If he cannot hear our cries then he should as well forget about our votes in 2017," said Wanderi.
