A Nakuru court on Friday allowed a prayer by a father to place a title deed as surety on his son charged with defilement.

Francis Ngure Ngige, a resident of Mahi Mahiu in Naivasha wrote a letter to the court on January 6, 2016 requesting to stand as a surety on his son accused of defiling a 15 years old girl.

His son David Kabucho Ngure, who works at Joseph Waweru Home School in Rongai is accused of allegedly defiling a 15 years old girl at the school on diverse dates between March and September 2015 in Rongai.

Ngure swore before Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku and he said that he knows the repercussion of standing surety and he will be forced to spend 6 months in jail if his son absconds court and disappears.

Kabucho was arrested on December 21, 2015 and arraigned before Nakuru Senior Principle Magistrate Maroro Nyakundi on December 22, where he denied the charges and was given a surety bond of Sh200,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.

Ngure left details of his contacts including the church that he goes to.

The prosecution had no objection to the application of releasing Kabucho on surety.

Nthuku also reminded Ngure that the title deed will remain in court until the case is finalised.

The case will be heard on February 21, 2016.
