Female form four candidates have been advised to take the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations seriously since it is the only way they will be able to join tertiary institutions.

Speaking at Ayany, Homeboys Foundation spokesperson Linda Chalker said girls are privileged since the government always favours them by lowering their points needed to join university depending to men.

‘’Girls have privilege since their cut off points are lower compared to those of men. Also the Equity Bank gives them employment to work before they join university. After that when they join university, the bank pays their fee,” she said.

Chalker challenged the candidates to work hard and get good grades to give them this privilege.

“If these students excel in their exams, parents will not bother looking for school fees. They should challenge male candidates believe ladies can also shine,” added the Homeboys Foundation spokesperson.

The ongoing KCSE examinations have been marred by claims of leakages with a section of people calling for its cancelation.

However, the Kenya National Examinations Council and the Ministry of Education say the tests will go on as scheduled.

Chalker urged parents to embrace a girl child education and not allow issues such as early pregnancy be a hindrance to students not going back to school.
