The first phase of lighting up Maseno market with solar powered lights has been completed.
The project started last week and it had been estimated will take two weeks to be completed.
The county government took up the project to light up the market with solar powered lanterns.
Traders have been pleased with the effort of the county government to light up the market saying they had been on the dark for a long time.
“We have always been on the dark and inconvenienced as we are forced to close our businesses early but now we know business will thrive," said Joyce Wangeci a trader.
The contactor, Joseph Kisabuli cautioned the traders and asked them to take good care of the lamps to serve them well and longer saying it needed little maintenance.
“Our cry has finally been heard. We hope this also does not malfunction like the previous ones. We however, thank the county government for considering our plea,” said Mary Onyango a trader.
County Business Licensing Department Officer, Evans Okumu urged the traders to take advantage of the lights to extend business hours.
