Ford Kenya members in Nyanza are now demanding a statement from their party leader Moses Wetangula over de-whipping of Senator Okong’o Mong’are from the Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee after his election as chairman.
The party's Nyanza coordinator Juston Owino said on Monday that Senator Mong’are cannot be de-whipped without notifying the party head Moses Wetangula.
Owino said they are disturbed by the happenings in the Senate.
He said Senator Wetangula must stand firm with his members and demanded that he declares his stand over the matter within a week.
“We demand an answer from Mr Wetangula who is also the Bungoma Senator over this issue. He should not leave the party to be run by outsiders. We must be told why Mong’are was de-whipped,” he said.
Addressing a press conference in Kisumu backed by other officials from Nyanza, Owino said they are disappointed how Ford Kenya party is being treated in the Coalition.
He said some few politicians in the Coalition should not think and act on behalf of Ford Kenya.
Owino said the party is an equal partner in the Coalition and should not be trampled upon.
“We should not be mistreated in the Coalition, we are there by right and must be respected,” he said.
