Five students from Kitutu Masaba who sat for 2015 KCPE have been rescued from a possible miss out in enrolment to various national schools by a Nyamira-based Foundation.
The Ogeto Swanya Foundation chipped in to restore hope to the five top performing students after they reportedly missed Wings to fly and KCB scholarships.
Speaking in Magombo on Tuesday, Mr Victor Ogeto who’s the proprietor of the Foundation said his team will fund the education of the students fully till they complete their secondary school studies.
“As a foundation, we have received five serious cases of students who are on the verge of missing form one admission simply because they come from humble background. We are not going to allow that and I have ordered my team to take responsibility and pay for the students,” he said.
He also urged area residents to report cases of children who may not be able to report to national schools due to fee challenges for help from the foundations.
“Our foundation doesn’t just pay for students whom we identify on our own but we also give a chance those who excel and have no means. It’s upon the community to report such cases. We are giving first priority those from impoverished background who get admission to nationals’ schools,” he said.
The students include Mercy Machera (Alliance Girls), David Mokaya (Lenana School), James Oindi (Maseno School), Wilkister Mwancha (Machakos Girls) and Jane Kemunto (Moi Girls Eldoret) and will be officially unveiled by the foundation on Thursday.
