Two people died on the spot while two others died on arrival in hospital after they were involved in an accident at Pilot shopping centre in Thika sub-county on your way to Makongeni town on Friday.
The accident occurred after a speeding saloon car lost control and landed on the roadside bars before a truck heading same direction and on high speed too landed on it, killing the two passengers on spot, driver among them.
According to Thika sub-county traffic base commander, Apelles Chacha, the saloon car veered off the road after it lost control and over turned as the truck landed on it from the front.
Shea said that the speeding lorry rammed into the car leading to stiff traffic congestion along the road before the police arrived at the scene to retrieve the bodies and the vehicle.
“The officers have had a tough time in retrieving the bodies and the wrecked vehicles due to the traffic congestion but fortunately we made it faster and things resumed to their normal operations,” Chacha said.
The officer cautioned the drivers in the area saying that such accidents are avoidable as they should be careful and drive at low speed now that the roads in Thika are highly congested as the roads are being expanded.
The deceased bodies are in Bishop Okoye funeral home in Thika town while the wrecked vehicle is at Thika police station.
