Four armed robbers on Wednesday night raided Yatta CDF offices in Matuu town and stole more than Sh160,000.
Yatta OCPD Mr Edward Kipsang said the robbers stole the cash and several office computers.
"Investigations have been launched and police are hunting for the suspects,” said Kipsang. The OCPD explained that the thugs threatened the night watchman with machetes and tied him up using ropes. They swore to cut his throat if he screamed for help.
While recording a statement with the police, the watchman explained that one of the suspsect was a middle aged man who had befriended him for some time. The watchman said that the man, whose real name he did not know, used to stop by at night every so often for the last several weeks.
It was until Wednesday night when he came armed and in the company of three other men who assisted him break into the offices. The watchman sustained several injuries and was treated at Matuu Level Four Hospital.
