Kiambu county government will in the next 2 weeks distribute drugs to Gatundu North sub county dispensaries that did not receive drugs in the first distribution phase.
According to Anthony Kimani, the sub county deputy health officer, the dispensaries are to receive drugs worth Kshs. 2.7 million in a span of 2 weeks.
"Last week, we distributed drugs to dispensaries in Githobokoni ward worth Kshs. 1.3 million shillings. In Gituamba sub county, we are to distribute Kshs. 1.4 million worth of drugs to its respective dispensaries this week," he revealed.
Kimani noted that the drugs in distribution are set to serve locals for a period of 3 months before another distribution is carried out.
Kimani who was speaking from his Kamwangi office on Monday 23rd November 2015 decried the shortage of essential drugs in the area dispensaries but absolved the county government from blame because there were no funds.
"Kiambu county government has also promised us to build 2 more dispensaries; one in Gatunguru and another in Muchakai in an effort to reduce the distance patients move in search of medical services," he added.
The deputy health officer also disclosed the county's plans to modernise hospital laboratories for quality services. Kimani however urged the county to consider purchasing laboratory equipments and add a few more health workers in dispensaries.
He further urged the health workers to be honest and be patriotic by providing quality services to patients in the area.
