North Mugirango MP has come under intense scrutiny from a section of disgruntled residents who accuse him of running the CDF kitty for his personal gains.
Speaking on Monday at Nyamusi during a farming training programme, the residents’ led by Enock Osiri said blamed area MP Charles Geni for alleged slow growth in the region.
According to them, the MP was using the kitty for his personal gains citing lack of a tangible project that has been launched in the region by the ODM MP since the 2013 polls.
“The CDF is not being used for intended purpose and that is our worry. The MP has totally distanced himself from development at the grassroots with no noticeable project launched since 2013. We demand to know from him what he has been doing. I suspect that he is using the money for his personal gains,” Osiri said.
They also accused the MP of failing to support the education sector convincingly claiming that bursary allocations are barely sufficient for the needy students.
“We have seen in other constituencies students being supported massively especially in universities and colleges. That isn’t the case here with the luckiest students getting only Sh5,000. Many schools are dealing with leaking roofs yet there isn’t a response from the leadership,” he added.
The residents also complained of scarcity of health facilities in the region, and directed their fury to Geni and called for the urgent fixing of the predicament.
“Our health sector is ailing with many of us travelling as far as Nyamira to seek medication. It’s time for him (Geni) to wake up and help us solve these pressing issues. We want to see the CDF kitty at work,” said another resident, Kefa Ontiri.
