KANU chairman Gideon Moi on Monday cleared the air after being referred to as ‘an uncircumcised Kalenjin’ by DP William Ruto.
He hit back at Ruto for using derogative language when referring to him. The son of the former president, Daniel Moi said the people of the Rift have known who Ruto is and that is why they are not giving willing to listen to him.
Moi accused Ruto of having taken the Rift Valley people for granted and since people have known his tricks, they have turned their backs on him. He said the rift people have already made up their minds that cannot be changed no matter the insults.
The ‘uncircumcised Kalenjin’ phrase raised uproar on social media as people asked how a senior government official could use such language. The DP, on the other hand, rubbished the phrase which was translated from his mother tongue. He defended himself saying the translation was wrongly done.
Ruto accused the Star newspaper that had published the story saying it was desperate for sales as it is a business newspaper.
‘‘My statements have never been about trivialities like circumcision but as always the star is at it. I understand sales matter,’’ said Ruto on his official twitter account.
