Gituamba ward Member of County Assembly Sammy Ng’ang’a has promised to give Kshs. 1 million education funds for the needy come January 2016.
Speaking outside Jesus is Alive Ministries church in Gituamba on Sunday where he attended a church fundraiser, the MCA noted that the county had allocated him the cash and was due to issue it to the needy and bright students.
Ng’ang’a noted that the county gave his ward Kshs. 2.5 million in the current financial year where he said that Kshs. 1.5 million had been used to waiver college and secondary students school fees before the end of third term.
He revealed that the selection process for the deserving students will be done by chiefs and their assistants to allow transparency in the funds allocation.
He said that the county education funds should only be given to the bright and poor students without discrimination.
"The county government as you have recently seen is also determined to offer better health services by providing enough drugs to our dispensaries and employing qualified medical personnel. We are however yet to complete the Gituamba Dispensary's third unit which will be complete as soon as we receive the funds," he said.
The MCA further promised to provide games uniforms to the area football clubs that were remaining after giving Gatunguru FC, Mataara FC and Gituamba FC.
