Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro has urged both the national and county governments to sponsor local investors rather than always depending on international investors.
Speaking during the North Rift Economic Bloc (Noreb) conference, Ethuro said it was the time for African countries to sponsor their own local investors who have an opportunity to change the country.
"We have always been dpending on foreign coutries to come and invest in our countries, instead, we should change the mentality and encourage our own local investors," he said.
He said that Kenya has highly skilled professionals who when sponsord can change the economy of the country and reduce the dependence on foreign assistance.
"I urge the national and county governments to ensure that they promote local investors through giving them opportunities to prove what they can do," he reiterated.
