Kiambu County Youth and Sports CeC Machel Waikenda has urged beneficiaries of the Biashara and Uwezo Funds to use the money wisely.
Addressing youth at Kiambu Town on Sunday, Waikenda urged beneficiaries of development funds to ensure that the money given to them is used for the indented purpose.
Waikenda said that cases of some beneficiaries misusing the funds have been reported.
“We want to urge and appeal to all the beneficiaries of the Biashara and the Uwezo Fund to make sure that the money we give them is used for the intended projects,” said Waikenda.
The CeC said it was wrong for development fund beneficiaries to misuse the money, adding that the county government is monitoring the development projects that have been initiated by the beneficiaries.
Waikenda also asked youth to form groups in order to increase their chances of receiving the funds.
“Marginalised groups which comprise of youth, women and persons living with disabilities should form groups and send in their proposals to be considered for the Uwezo and the Biashara Funds,” he said.
Waikenda said the county government is committed to empowering youth, women and persons living with disabilities.
