The government will soon begin resettling the profiled Internally Displaced Persons in the country. 

The message came after senior government officials stopped a march to State House by the IDPs from Nyandarua County.

The victims of 2007/08 post-election violence were stopped from continuing with the demonstrations by the government top officials who intercepted them in Naivasha with the promise of resettling them.

Special Programmes Principal Secretary Josephta Mukobe soothed the IDPs by telling them that the Government had not forgotten them, and that they will soon be settled. 

She asked for more time saying the new Cabinet Secretary for Devolution Mwangi Kiunjuri was still new in the office.

She added that they have already held a successful discussion and agreed upon addressing all the issues pertaining the integrated IDPs starting February.

Member of Parliament for Nakuru North Kimani Ngunjiri accepted that the matters of resettling the IDPs had taken long time, but defended the government noting that its new system had affected the resettlement and compensation plans.

He gave them hope of resettlement by telling them that, the president and his deputy are aware of their grievances so they can be assured that their worries will be fully addressed.

The IDPs’ coordinator James Mwaura Njoroge termed the meeting as fruitful and called on group to heed the promises and head back to their homes.
