Gatundu North sub county commissioner Daniel Nyamiti has urged Gatundu residents to be in the forefront in helping kill corruption in the country.
Speaking from Kamwangi town on Tuesday, Nyamiti asked area residents to desist from offering bribes to police officers and paying for free government services which he said are the pillars of corruption in the country.
“Corruption is a social evil that starts from the mind. If citizens can desist from offering police bribes and paying for faster free government services, the country could be saved from further destruction by corruption,” he said.
Nyamiti said he was committed to fighting corruption in the area by lawfully dealing with the corrupt police officers.
“Everyone has a role to play in ending the corruption monster. I will work within my jurisdiction and lawfully deal with corrupt police officers who are reported to be corrupt by the public. The fight cannot be won by the government only, residents should also desist from engaging in corrupt deals,” he said.
Nyamiti urged residents to uphold patriotism to develop the nation and help transform the country by ignoring political hatred.
“Illicit liquor is for instance a corruption related matter. Police who receive bribes from bar maids extend corruption and as I said on Sunday, the war will continue until our people are safe,” he said.
