Kisii governor James Ongwae has called on area residents to heed Pope Francis’ message and adopt humble and peaceful lives.

He said the Pontiff’s advice to Kenyans during his three day visit in the country was solid and resolute and if well observed, the country could witness social-economic and political development.

“The Holy Father’s advice was resolute and I want to urge all of us to be mindful and embrace humility and modesty as demonstrated by the Pope,” said the governor.

He also appealed to leaders in the area to embrace harmony, forgiveness, and peaceful co-existence for the sake of the county’s social-economic growth.

"Without peaceful co-existence among political leaders, this county cannot achieve any tangible development which our people desperately need," he said.

He was speaking in his office Monday morning when he hosted Kisii County Executives.

He said his government was committed to ensure growth and development through bringing together leaders from the region and all counties to work in unity.
