A section of parents in Matutu in Gesima ward, Nyamira County have challenged the Ministry of Health to sensitise them before it launches any vaccination in the area.
Their plea comes as the polio vaccination campaign which started across the county at the weekend.
They said there is need to be involved in the process so that they can prepare their children for the same and know what the vaccination it is all about.
Grace Nyanchera said it is so important for the ministry to educate residents on the importance of any vaccination before it starts so that they can understand it better and help in its campaigns against the diseases they target.
“We are not saying the polio vaccination is wrong but what we need is that we should be involved fully through being sensitised about the event so that we can be aware and prepare," Nyanchera said.
The officer in charge of Health in Nyamira Douglas Bosire has urged parents to cooperate and assist the health officers to vaccinate their children.
Bosire also said parents should not have any fear about the ongoing polio vaccination saying it is safe for children and by doing they will be protecting them.
