Uasin Gishu County deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has urged wananchi to help them in the fight against corruption.
He said the public should report corrupt county staff to relevant authorities as well as refuse to give bribes.
Chemno who spoke in his office on Thursday said members of the public are to blame for corruption since they give bribes especially when they want to be served quickly.
“As Uasin Gishu County government we are determined to fight corruption in all sectors by ensuring that there is transparency and accountability but the public has let us down by giving bribes,” he said.
The deputy county boss said residents have a right to be served by the county officers without giving out bribes, and that they should report any staff who asks them for money in exchange of services.
“I urge Uasin Gishu residents to help us in the fight against corruption by always reporting corrupt individuals and also refusing to give bribes no matter how long it will take for them to be served. By doing so, corruption will be a thing of the past,” he said.
He added that that the county is a corruption free zone and any officer who will be found taking bribes will be shown the door.
