Hikers at Mount Longornot now want the Kenya Wildlife Services to offer basic animal protection training to them before they hike.
The hikers claim that it is useless for them to get instructions to be aware of the wild animals and not know what to do in case they are encounter one.
Speaking to this Hivisasa writer on Saturday, they lamented that they would not know how to react incase they are attacked.
“Last year I saw a herd of buffalo and only had to rely on my instincts and lie down on the path towards the mountain. I did not know what else to do,” said Joseph Ogido.
Ann Njambi pointed out that it was useless to give emergency numbers as they never came in handy in case of an attack.
“Of course you do not get time to call the emergency number as you will be in a state of panic. They should at least put instructions like 'in case you spot a buffalo lie on the ground' or any other handy instructions,” she added.
Priscilla Chebet also pointed out that they should have first aid offered at major points.
“With the warning there should also be an emergency room where in case one is attacked you can receive proper first aid and treatment if necessary,” she said.
