Kisii County deputy governor Joash Maangi has denied claims that he has been expelled from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party for leading a delegation to Deputy President William Ruto’s home.

Addressing the press in his office on Wednesday, Maangi said he remains the county's party organising secretary, dispelling the reports in a daily paper that he had been expelled from the party.

“This report is attributed to one Erick Changanya who purports to be the county party secretary. To the best of my knowledge, Erick is a party leader and therefore he has no powers to suspend any suspected errant leader in the party. Till the party committee chaired by Senator Chris Obure meets and decides on what next, I remain to be the organising secretary," Maangi said.

Maangi has said several development projects were agreed on in the meeting with the DP.

“We discussed a lot of things among them the completion of stalled projects like roads. We also challenged the DP to consider Kisii County in top slots in the government like ministerial positions. Ruto is a partner in the Jubilee administration and therefore there was nothing wrong to tell him our concerns,” he said.

Maangi has found it difficult to convince Kisii County residents that the agenda in the meeting with the DP was development projects.
