Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has urged the government to give the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) more funds to facilitate its activities.
Speaking on Sunday during a funds drive at International Vision Center Church in Eldoret, Mudavadi said IEBC is an independent commission and should be supported adequately.
"IEBC is an independent body that needs proper funding. If it is underfunded it may easily be manipulated since it does not have enough funds to conduct its activities effectively," he said.
He said for the elections body to conduct free and fair elections that will not attract any disputes it must be fully be funded.
"2007 elections were contested because the then electoral commission was incompetent to handle elections that led to violence," he said.
