The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has launched a new digital platform to assist in voter registration as it seeks to achieve its target of registering eight million new voters.

According to a report by the Star newspaper online, the digital platform dubbed, ‘Go To Vote!’ is a project of Code for Kenya, a civic technology laboratory that uses data and technology to improve lives and empower people to make informed choices.

The platform was launched on Monday.

This time, it seeks to ensure the IEBC achieves the target before the 2017 general election by giving users an overview of the voter registration process.

Through this tool, potential voters can easily identify and locate their nearest voter registration centres and inform them of what documents are needed for the exercise.

The digital platform which can be easily accessed through smartphones will be a relief to many residents of Nakuru town most of whom are not aware of the polling stations within their reach an issue which has greatly affected new voter registration in Nakuru county.
