A Nakuru ward representative in the county assembly, Peter Mwangi Nderitu of Bahati ward, is worried that the gap between the rich and the poor continues to widen and very little is being done to help the needy, disabled, widows, the old and orphans.
He has challenged the National Assembly and the national treasury to increase funds allocated in each financial year to help such kind of people.
He said this during a tour at his ward to visit the old and sick who do not have people to look after them.
“We need to share what we have as a society; it is wrong to neglect these old people because some of them even fought for the independence we are enjoying today,” he told this Hivisasa writer.
Mr. Nderitu also emphasised on the need for improving the social economic status of young men and women by supporting their initiatives financially.
He said that stabilising women and youths today translates to a better Kenya tomorrow.
