Bar owners in Itumbe market and surrounding areas have been warned against allowing minors into their business premises during the December holiday.
Giasaiga sub-chief James Mogo warned bar owners against entertaining under age children in their premises adding that they risk having their licenses revoked.
Speaking at Matongo village on Monday, Mogo said allowing underage children, especially girls to enter bars will not only tempt them into engaging in illicit love affairs, but will also threaten their future academic lives and careers.
"I am warning bar owners and brewers against allowing under age children to enter their premises since such habits will encourage school girls to sneak from their parents' homes at night to engage in commercial sex trade at the expense of their education," said Mogo.
Mogo said any bar owner found allowing underage girls to engage in commercial sex trade in their premises contrary to the provisions of the law will have their licenses revoked.
He however challenged parents to watch and monitor their children by ensuring they do not get engage in illegal activities during the holidays.
