Two Mombasa freight stations have moved before the court seeking to sue two State agency officials for disobeying court orders.

The two freight stations belonging to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s family through their lawyers Paul Buti and Mohammed Balala wanted to sue Kenya Posts Authority acting managing director Catherine Mturi and the head of litigation, Ms Addraya Dena.

The lawyers wanted the two officials summoned to court to show cause why they should not be committed to civil jail for allegedly refusing to obey court orders not to stop operations at Autoports Freight Terminals Limited and Portside Freight Terminals Limited.

In the applications, lawyer Balala accused Ms Mturi of failing to obey a January 25 court order to put on hold the port’s decision to suspend the nomination of containers to Portside Freight Terminal.

In January, KRA officials raided the two freight stations and ordered that they be closed claiming that the facilities have been handling stolen and smuggled goods.

Justice Anyara Emukule directed the application by the two freight companies be heard on February 22.
