Kisii County residents have been warned against joining the newly formed Jubilee Party of Kenya which is due to be launched in a few months’ time.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have agreed to dissolve TNA and URP parties that form Jubilee coalition for a single party that would help them defend their 2017 re-election bid.
Speaking at Nyamarange in South Mugirango on Monday, nominated ODM Senator Janet Ong’era said the Jubilee party was not good for the community since the government hasn’t shown willingness to develop the region.
“It’s time that those who still belief that Jubilee will help them to forget. The coalition has only done little development wise in this region since they took over in 2013. The party has no plans for our region therefore doesn’t bare attention to those trying to sell its policies in the region,” she said.
Ong’era also said the government has substantially lost battles to opposition, pointing out graft as the key area opposition Cord has managed to safe the country hence increasing chances of the government losing in 2017 polls.
“The opposition Cord has played its role perfectly well. We have fought rampant graft in Jubilee government, they have failed to make Kenyans secure and our economy is hailing. Cord will definitely form government in 2017 hence it will be essential for us to stick in Cord if we want to be in government after 2017 polls,” she said.
She urged residents to vote overwhelmingly for opposition Chief Raila Odinga in 2017 to boost chances of having the Presidency seat won for the first time by someone from the former Nyanza province in which the region is part of it.
