Juja Sub-County Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) chairlady Anne Njue has challenged women to champion for their rights.

Speaking to journalists in Juja Town on Wednesday, Njue told women to shun fear and instead agitate for their rights.

The Juja MYWO chairlady said that women have been empowered and urged them to take advantage of the opportunities the constitution has given them to advance their agenda.

“Women should no longer fear or feel intimated as the constitution has empowered them and thus they must rise to the occasion and fight for their well being,” she said.

Njue said that the time when women were intimidated and denied their rights is over, adding that the constitution agitates for equality and fairness between men and women.

The Juja women leader also challenged women to take part in active politics. She said through politics, women will be able to advance their interests and well being.

The chairlady urged the Kiambu government to include more women in government positions.

She said the current ratio of men to women in the county government is discouraging saying that women have been abandoned.
