Kaani Lions Secondary School, a private learning institution in Kathiani Sub-County, on Sunday celebrated the opening of several new buildings among them a Sh20 million dormitory.

The school held a colorful event which was attended by the Japanese donors, who funded the project.

Speaking during the event, Lions Club International President, Dr Jitsuhiro Yamada, said the organisation's main aim is to empower young people with education and life skills that will brighten their future.

"Education is the main key to success and we are therefore glad to provide a good learning environment to the students to enable them to perform well in their studies, because they are the country's future leaders," said Dr Yamada.

The school's principal, Ms Sellamary James, thanked Dr Yamada for the organisation's donations and promised to ensure the students perform well in their examinations, as they now have proper facilities.

"This school's vision is to give back to the society well educated, visionary, responsible and focused young people. I am determined to work hard as the head of the school to ensure we achieve the best," said Ms James.
