Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has urged the police in the county to keep vigilance and provide security to residents as they celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
Speaking at St Benedict Children’s Home in Tigoni, Limuru Sub County on Wednesday, Kabogo said that residents need to be assured of their safety as they celebrate.
He said that police have an enormous responsibility to make sure that security prevails before, during and after the festive season.
“Our law enforcement officers should work extra hard in providing security to Kenyans and more so to Kiambu residents this festive season,” said Kabogo.
The Kiambu Governor asked police to keep vigil in churches, entertainment joints, supermarkets and other public places.
He also urged traffic police officers to enforce road regulations strictly to curb cases of road accidents that are witnessed during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Kabogo has urged residents to remain peaceful this festive season.
He said that peace and unity will see the residents prosper in their activities.
Kabogo who wished locals a merry Christmas urged them (residents) to share the festive joy with the less fortunate members of the society.
