Governor William Kabogo has pledged to spearhead women empowerment programmes in the county.

Addressing women groups after issuing bursary funds at Kijabe grounds in Lari on Thursday, Kabogo said that his government has taken key steps aimed at empowering women socio-economically.

Kabogo indicated that the input of women is critical in the realisation of development goals both at the national and county government level.

The Kiambu governor said that his government has included women in key programmess and projects being initiated at the county level.

“Women are an important key instruments in realisation of development and the Kiambu government recognises their importance,” he said.

Kabogo urged women to be vocal and raise their concerns to the county government for address.

He said that the Constitution has empowered women adding that they should use that chance to agitate for their rights.

The governor asked elderly women to apply for the upkeep funds that have been set aside by the national government.

He said that his government is planning to establish a kitty for the elderly persons.

The Kiambu county boss at the same time urged women to take up leadership positions both in government and private sector.

He said that through leadership women will be able to advance their development.

The Kiambu county governor further appealed to women and other marginalised groups to form groups and apply for the Uwezo and Biashara Funds.

He said the funds have been set aside exclusively  for empowering marginalized groups.
