Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has told opposition leaders to stop speculating about national government activities and instead engage it purposefully for the benefit of Kenyans.

Speaking at the county headquarters when he issued Uwezo Fund cheques to youths, women and persons living with disability on Tuesday, Kabogo said the opposition lacks objectivity adding that it has failed Kenyans.

He said the opposition apart from frequently criticizing every activity made by the government, has not done anything for Kenyans.

He said the opposition needs to be objective and engage with the government meaningfully on the challenges facing Kenyans.

“It is unfortunate that our opposition leaders concentrate more on criticising the government at the expense of engaging it meaningfully on the issues facing Kenyans,” he said.

He cited the fight against corruption saying the opposition has been using it as a tool to criticise and ridicule the government.

The governor noted that the war on graft will be effectively won of opposition leaders engage with the government on strategies to tame it.

The Kiambu boss said the opposition needs to understand its mandate as per the constitution.

He warned that persistent criticizing and politicizing of government activities and projects could work against them.

“Kenyans are watching the kind of opposition they have and will make decisions when the time comes,” he said.

Kabogo said the work of the opposition is to provide alternative solutions to the problems facing the country and not criticizing the government.

On the same note, Kabogo asked opposition leader Raila Odinga to stop speculating about the Eurobond.

He said the opposition was speculating about the Eurobond in order to get public attention.

On Tuesday, the opposition chief said he had written to four international banks and the National Treasury seeking to know on how Sh250 billion Eurobond proceeds were spent by the government.

He claimed that the government was unable to account for at least Sh140 billion from the proceeds.
