Students who completed fourth form in 2015  and those completing colleges and universities in Kamenu Ward, Kiambu County have been called upon to volunteer in community work as they await to move to the next level.

Speaking on Tuesday at Makongeni ACK Church during a meeting with the youths, Kamenu community based organisation chairperson Esther Mueni said that was one of the best ways that young people could give back to society.

"Sometimes youths sit back and claim that they have nothing to give out because may be they are not yet employed. That should not be an excuse. Giving voluntary services is one of the ways youths leaving colleges, universities and schools can contribute in building their society," said Mueni.

Mueni said those that have professional qualifications can volunteer in their fields of specialisation and in turn gain experience as they help their society.

"It is a kind of a symbiotic relationship where you will gain as help others. You also get to interact with more people and build your confidence," she added.
