Kamwangi drivers operating public service vehicles have been urged to observe traffic rules and guidelines to avoid unnecessary loss of lives through road accidents.

Speaking on Sunday, Kamwangi traffic police deputy commandant Moses Mwau said that efforts to reduce road carnage should be a collective responsibility by all road users.

He urged drivers and boda boda operators to also maintain their transport gadgets well to avoid being at loggerheads with traffic officers.

"All PSV vehicles must have their Sacco names written on them for ease of identification by passengers and police on patrol," he said.

He told vehicle operators to take regular crackdown by police officers positively because they are aimed at correcting minor mistakes that could lead to accidents.

He observed that compliance to traffic rules is not the creation of the police and that road users must abide by them because flouting the rules automatically leads to infringing on the rights and safety of others.

He however noted that road accidents in the region had reduced to 66% compared to previous months.
