National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has assured police officers in lower ranks of strictness in the coming vetting process and that no cases of bribery and corruption as earlier reported in the police commission will be allowed.

Speaking in Nakuru on Tuesday during a sensitisation forum, NPSC Chairman Johnston Kavuludi also urged the officers to submit their vetting forms, adding that they will remain within constitutional provisions during the process.

"The last vetting process were marred by corruption especially between the junior officers and their seniors. We will ensure there is no repeat of the same in the coming process and that all the officers should have their required forms for the process," Kavuludi said.

Kavuludi also added that in the last vetting results, police officers were found unsuitable for a variety of reasons which included human rights abuses, criminal activities and corruption.

According to the NPSC chair, other vices in the police service included obstructing the course of the criminal justice system, human trafficking, smuggling, forgery of academic certificates, submission of fake bank statements and M-Pesa statements, unprofessional conduct as well as failure to provide documents or information required by the commission.

"I want to assure the police and the stakeholders that the decision of the vetting process will be arrived at after a thorough process and strict adherence to the vetting regulations and standards," Kavuludi assured.

Kavuludi also noted that the exercise had exposed gaps and systemic weaknesses in the police service which will inform the formulation of human resource policies and regulations.
