President Uhuru Kenyatta will make his sixth visit to the lakeside city since his election this weekend.
According to a report by one of the dailies, the president will preside over an official opening of a Seventh Day Adventist Church regional headquarters at Mamboleo.
Meanwhile, the opposition chief Raila Odinga, who is the Nyanza political kingpin, is headed to Malindi, as was confirmed by Junet Mohammed, an ODM official in the Coastal region. Odinga will lead a Cord rally in campaign for the coalition's candidate Willy Mtengo.
The president lastly visited the City on June 29, for a Silver Jubilee celebrations of Kisumu Archdiocese at Uzima university. On Thursday, Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma said the county will use the opportunity to chat progress on some of the collaborative projects with the national government, which are dwindling.
"We are enthusiastic that the visit will enable us chat the way forward on some of things we had set rolling in collaboration with the national government," said Ranguma. The governor also appealed to Kisumu residents to welcome the president as they have always done.
He added that, "We ask the residents of Kisumu to join hands with us like they have always done and welcome the president."
