Keroka traders have hailed Nyamira county for responding with regards to having their market improved.
"We have been conducting businesses in deplorable conditions that prompted us to boycott payment of levies and eventually hold peaceful demonstrations," said Joseph Ombui, a poultry trader at Keroka market.
"We thank the government for heeding our call to have the market improved so that we can conduct our businesses in a healthy and safe environment," he added.
"We want the county government to further provide us with clean water and toilets in the town before they start collecting levies," said Josephine Kwamboka, a mitumba seller.
Bernard Okemwa, a cobbler, challenged the county government of Kisii to join hands with their neighbouring county, Nyamira to clean the town arguing that the 2 counties share the town.
They demanded the Kisii and Nyamira county governments to also establish a dumping site alleging the town was stinking due to the poor waste management in the area.
