The national government in collaboration with the Gatundu North sub county children's department will partner to sensitise the residents on the challenges facing children with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Speaking during the conclusion of a training and mentorship seminar for teenagers in Gatunguru on Monday, the sub county Member of Parliament Francis Kigo Njenga said that the 2 governments will mobilise parents to avail their children to participate in the walk to create awareness on the need of such children in Gatundu North.
Kigo said that the national government will introduce Information Communication Technology in special school programmes to enhance learning of the pupils.
"Plans are underway to reach out to children in rural schools to improve their learning programmes and uplift their living standards," he revealed to the teenagers.
The teenagers who had convened for a seminar and training mentorship program since Monday last week were commended for being focused in countering challenges facing children in Kiambu.
Kigo received the teenagers' 5 years strategic plan where among the issues the teenagers want solved, respect for their rights, rehabilitation of all street children, better education access for all children and freedom of worship for the children tops the list.
The teenagers led by their leader Joseph Mumu pledged to cooperate with the county and national government in the realisation of their long-term plan.
"We will by all means work in harmony with both governments to fasten the realisation of our strategic plans without delay," Mumu said.
The teenagers were trained on relationships, effects of drug abuse, spiritual growth and positive political involvement among other topics.
Njenga commended the outcome of the forum and urged other sub counties to hold similar forums in order to foster the growth of children's welfare.
